Edith H. Johnson, 75, died Saturday, June 19, 2010 in Gainesville, FL.
Mrs. Johnson was born on July 5, 1934, the daughter of the late Harry Eugene and Mae Walsh Hensel. Edith grew up in The Golden Isles of Brunswick, GA where she attended Glynn Academy. She continued her formal education at the GA Teachers College now Georgia Southern University through a voice scholarship. She also completed several courses through the University of Georgia and the University of Southern Florida.
Mrs. Johnson was a beautiful light in the lives of so many friends she had acquired during her life. From the many years she spent in the northeast to her years spent back home in Georgia, she had the ability to make others laugh and feel at ease. Edith was an active member of Messiah Lutheran Church where she was a member of the church choir for 14 years and served on many of the church committees during that time.
Mrs. Johnson is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Robert J. Johnson. Edith was a devoted and loving mother who is survived by three children, her sons, Jeff and Brian Johnson and daughter, Jennifer Csernyik. One of her greatest Joys was guiding all three children thru college. She is also survived by 5 grandchildren, Catheryne, Courtney, Christina, Jaden and Evan.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 26, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at Messiah Lutheran Church.
